Me

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. My husband, our son, and I moved to Arlington seven years ago and have made it our home. I did my undergraduate and graduate studies in the Universidad de Puerto Rico, both in English>Spanish translation, and I have been a translator for the past 13 years.

APS has been a second home since we moved here. Our son went to Key Elementary School (Spanish immersion school) for five years. Because I worked as a freelancer, I had the flexibility to volunteer at Key, be the PTA Translating Committee Chair, and be a roomparent during all those years. When our son went on to Swanson Middle School, I became the school-based substitute at Key for one year and then an instructional assistant for another year. During that time, I realized that I had a second calling in life; I wanted to be a teacher. I now hold a Virginia teaching license in Spanish PreK-12th.

I know parents have many questions and concerns about the new-to-Tuckahoe Spanish FLES (Foreign Language in the Elementary School) program. Please, feel free to contact me if you do! I make every effort to reply within 24 hours.
